Flashback Fridays: Little Widge, Big Widge

We got Widget in 2006 from a lady on Craigslist. She was the breeder and he was given back to her after three months from his first owners because they had a Yorkie and the Yorkie didn't like him. 

After spending a short amount of time with Widgey, it was obvious that he had been beat by his previous owners. He was flinchy, terrified of the garage, anyone who was African American and all children. Sure enough, after emailing the breeder, we discovered that his original family fit all of the above.*

Our Widgey still has some issues and my In-Laws have been doing an amazing job training him (and his brother Fonzie!) and loving him and showing him that the world is an ok place. He was unsure of Roman at first, but after a few visits I guess his smell intertwined with ours and Widge has now become his big brother. I can't wait to see the adventures they have together!

1283. A fat  stack of ads in the Sunday newspaper.

1284. Seeing tears in Leigh-Ann's eyes that I knew were there for both happy and sad reason as she left today.  <3

1285. My manager Husband.

1286. Being blessed with such an amazing amount of caring friends.

1287. Finishing the giant (amazing!) task of going through all of Squiddy's gifts, taking off tags and SORTING BABY LAUNDRY.

1288. When Meatloaf cries on Celebrity Apprentice.

1289. Strawberry jam on morning toast.

1290. Finding Matt's character, Reginald, in a "London Fashion" book.

1291. Seeing one of my best friends, Miss LaLa,  so in love.

1292. The color cornflower blue.

1293.  Widgey's sweet face, soft ears and goofy grin.

1295. Saying "My Son" out loud.

1296.  Playing Mad Gab, boys versus girls (Bub, Keith, Matt & Me, La and Natty), and kicking the boy's butts.  WORD.

1297.  Holding up "newborn" sized clothes and realizing that in a month, there will really be a real newborn to put in them.

1298. Having such amazing, caring blog readers.

Dear Squid-Kid: Your BFF

Recently Daddy and I drove out to the country to enjoy the company of our friends and celebrate your future BFF's 1st birthday party.

Little Gavin is our Godson. That means that if anything bad happens to his parents, Daddy and I will raise him. 

He is squishy and tall and has the prettiest blue eyes. He has a giant cowlick on the back of his head and his thick blond waves just melt Momma! I hope you have a cowlick, too. If you have hair that's anything like Daddy's you are almost guaranteed to have at least one!

Your BFF also loves horsies.

Maybe once you're old enough, you and Gavin can take riding lessons together!

Gavin had the CUTEST cake for his pirate themed party, Squiddy. He needed a little help breaking through the fondant and didn't quite know what to do with the cake.

"Do I eat it? Do I just squish it like mud? Why is everyone staring at me?"

Momma had a teeny tiny (PERFECT!) cupcake. Not too much sugar but it was just big enough to satisfy my sweet tooth!

 

Being at Gavin's party made Daddy and I pause and realize that about one year from now, we will be having the exact same kind of celebration for you. 

Holy crap, Squiddy. YOU WILL BE ONE!

I can't wait to give birth to you, hold you and enjoy all of the amazing, wonderful little things that will fill up your first year.

I'M SO EXCITED!

Sunday School

Off to go to Doggy Class with my boys!

Today we're working on whistle training (what ever that means!) and we're hoping that it will be beneficial. We're kind of worried about how the boys will react to little Sir Squid, since Widgey (the stripey one) doesn't like kids, and that just won't do, now will it?
