Another Easter passed us by. Vrrrooooom! (Roman makes that noise.) it was so exciting watching my child hunt for eggs! Chubby hands holding a too-big basket. Cracking each egg open and finding candy. SO sweet! Although, he was a bit disappointed (maybe it was more that I was disappointed for him) that the eggs didn't have any chocolate in them -- only chewy, taffy like stuff. A no-no for my little guy!
Oh, and the Easter Bunny was enjoying his last lax year at our house -- no basket for Roman, just a matchbox sized Tow Mater that he went wild over and a pack of sidewalk chalk. The chalk may or may not have had glitter in it for Momma. :D
And then to:
We drove out to Gramms' house (two hours away) and met with everyone (Dad's side of the family) for our annual Easter brunch, kiddo egg hunt and the ever-so-anticipated adults only Golden Egg Hunt. Ham, strawberries, quiche and the like. Dad even brought some of his homemade tamales. Yum! Roman proved a pro at egg hunting and I can't wait to do our own egg hunt for him next year here at our house.
My sister's boyfriend found the Golden Egg! His first time to Gramms' house, too! Beginner's luck or something. Psssshhh. Gramms had hidden the egg in a blue dish towel that she had wrapped around an inconspicuous spigot. It totally looked like she was just trying to keep the pipe from freezing. Sneaky Gramms!!
After listening to my cousin Joey (not to be confused with my brother Joey) serenade us in full mariachi dress (that kid is GOOD - I shed a tear!), we packed up our poor, tired child and drove towards...
Roman slept most of the drive back. Before going home, we stopped by Dustin's parent's house to celebrate Easter with them. We all had goodie baskets! That Easter Bunny sure is sneaky! We felt so loved! We had a delish dinner and enjoyed the company of Gigi, Dampa, Uncle Beef and Miss Janet (sometimes Roman calls her Miss Donut and then I melt into a puddle). We were beyond exhausted (all of us!), so we drove the 6 minutes to our house, put the baby straight to bed and then went to bed ourselves. (We are old people.)
We hope your Easter (if you celebrate) was fantastic and full of fudgey bunnies and even perhaps a golden egg, too. :)
