Number 12 on my list of 26 things I'd like to do while 26, is:
"Read one new book per month."
Well, here's what I've read so far:
I've also read these, too...
(plus half of the last book)
...but since this is my third time reading the series, I figured I wouldn't count them.
I'm also not counting any non-novel type book I've read. There would be a whole lot of baby books on that list, as well as "crafting as a business" type books, sewing for less-than-stellar-seamstress type books and magazines. Don't even get me started on magazines. I think I have 8 or 9 subscriptions with different magazines at the moment. Parents is my newest addition. :D
Back to books, I'm also halfway through Choke by Chuck Palahniuk and The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd. I've already seen Choke (the movie version), so I'm in no rush to finish it and The Mermaid Chair is so-so. I much prefer spending my time with a little "wingardium leviosa", even if I HAVE read it already.
Next, after reading the latest Sookie Stackhouse book of course, I'm thinking that I want to read a "serious" book. A grown-up book. Something classic?
Bubby and I have a date this Saturday and we're going to the used book store in Berkeley.
Can't wait to pick something up!
Do you have any recommendations of what I should read? What's YOUR favorite book?
(Oh! Also, I'm 5 people away from checking number 26 off of my list. Care to help? Follow my blog through the Google Friend Connect widget on the left side-bar!)
Thanks, loves!
You should DEFINITELY read The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls if you want a serious-grown-up book that will knock your socks off. I finished it in 2 or 3 days. I couldn't put it down!!!

I love the Sookie Stackhouse books, especially during the work week since they are so easy to put down and pick back up. I also feel as if I should point out that the movie version of Choke is essentially a piece of crap and the book is amazing-one of my all time favorites. The movie really butchered everything I loved about the book. Harry Potter is always great to re-read and I have plenty of book suggestions if you are interested! :)

Have you read The Time Travelers Wife? It is fantastic! I weird concept, so it takes a bit to get into it....BUT SO GOOD! Better then the movie by far

I'm one of your newest followers! I really want to read the Sookie Stackhouse series... I just started reading Harry Potter for the first time (I started it once a reallllly long time ago).
I agree with Kamika, The Time Travelers Wife is amazing. If you want something more serious/grown up Khaled Housseini's books The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns are absolutely amazing. I think everyone should read them.

amy is right the kite runner is tremendous book. It might leave you drained in some of the very emotional parts.

Hi! I just found your blog on My Girl Thursday after watching your adorable video on giving your cardigan a makeover. I'm getting more picky with which blogs I follow these days since it can become overwhelming to have so many "unread" blogs to read! But you are so sweet and unique and I'm loving your blog already so here I am and here to stay :). I'm #99 on your friend connect! Sweeet :)
I was just given a huge list of book recommendations from a friend who is a huuuge reader of great books. She said the best "classic, grown up book" is Walden by Thoreau. I'm definitely going to be reading it this summer. I've got The Handmaid's Tale on my list...how was it??
My favorite books are by Augustin Burroughs and David Sedaris! Always hilarious, fun reads!

Happy #26! Glad to be the 100th follower of your blog, I love this idea and might have to do something similar when I turn 25!

Hello!
I joined Google Friend Reader JUST for you! I've followed your blog for nearly a year now (maybe more?) and I love to read about your inspirational stories. My mum is battling cancer (and has been for years) and is just as strong and badass as you are. I finally got around to making a blog in the hope that I could connect to my favorite bloggers (you) in addition to chronicling my own life!
So, hello! I'm Kristin!

I also love the Sookie Stackhouse books and, like some of the other commenters, "The Time Traveler's Wife" is fantastic.
A few recommendations...One of my favorite books is "Kindred" by Octavia Butler, one that I read recently that I really enjoyed is "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and I'm currently reading (and enjoying) "Stones from the River" by Ursula Hegi. :)
