First, we attended Grandpa Tom's annual Christmas party in the beginning of December. We took pictures with my whole family even though I only have pictures with my immediate family. (Uncle Brian: send us a disc!) We had lots of food and Roman got so many sweet gifts. The picture below (and to the right) where Dustin is swooping Roman in the air, well it just makes my heart happy! That boy loves his Daddy.
We planned on spending Christmas Eve at my Gramms' house (like always!), but Bubby and my Daddy both had to work, so we decided to have dinner and presents at Mom's house. It was quiet and laid back and perfect. We feasted on crab (OMG) and pasta with Dad's homegrown pesto and salad. Mom had prepared a plate of blackberries and raspberries with chocolate chips pushed into them. Roman was a big fan! That boy loves berries. Mom and Dad outdid themselves with the presents, and Roman.. well, that boy is not lacking for playthings, I'll just put it that way!
On Christmas Day, we woke up and brought Roman out to the living room where we lit a fire log and dug into our stockings. Roman was quickly overwhelmed once we started opening presents, bobbing here and there, trying to unwrap things and just playing with the crumpled paper. He flipped out over the train set that we got him. Seeing him so happy was the most magical thing! I made pancakes and bacon and eggs and we had a snuggly breakfast together as a family. Roman even got extra "Soo-wupp" and ran around the house like he had knocked back a double mocha frapa whatever. SO. Much. Energy.
Later that day, we stopped by Dustin's parent's house for gift giving and food and visits. Roman kept sneaking carrots and then slobbering on them and he kept trying to put them back. Eek! (baby marinade, anyone?) I seriously only got a few pictures from our visit and most of them were blurry. Momma was tired! I can't imagine doing Christmas with multiple kids. I think I just worry and plan and stress out more than necessary, though. (Goal for next Christmas = Less stress!) Oooo.. I got a bread maker from my In-Laws and I'm SUPPPPPEEEERR excited. It has a gluten-free setting on it. Fresh, hot bread?! Bring on the carbs, baby.
Hope your Christmas Season was full of glitter and warm ovens and tea and family and friends, too.
(Monster Slippers FTW.)
